A product of two of first generation secondary schools in Nigeria, St. Patrick’s College and Hope Waddell Training Institute, Hon. Orok Otu Duke, also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calabar and an MBA in Media.
His foray into politics started in 1992 when he won election to the Cross River State House of Assembly representing Calabar 1 constituency and rose to the position of Deputy Speaker.
In 2014, Duke was one of the Niger Delta region representatives at the National Conference in Abuja.
Among other public offices he has held was Special Assistant on Information and Culture to the Cross River State Government from 1994 to 1996 where he supervised the design and setup of the state's modern radio and television stations and also hosting the National Festival of Arts and Culture.
Duke held the position of Commissioner/Chairman of the Cross River State Sports Commission from 2015 to 2019 and the Commissioner for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) from December 2022 to June 2023.
He has had his personal business initiatives including founding the Duke and Duke Media Limited, which offered media consultancy services since 1987, alongside a flourishing career in sports consultancy.
A literary enthusiast, he penned numerous works that resonate with cultural identity, human experiences, and societal reflections, including noteworthy titles such as "Sentinels (Farewell Bakassi)" and "Treasures."
Born in Calabar South, Cross River State, Duke has served as Cross River State's Sports Ambassador since 2007 and contributed significantly to table tennis at national and regional levels,
He is the Adaidaha of Efik Eburutu and Otuekong of Atakpa Ikot Effiom.
