NDDC ready to make Niger Delta Sports Festival stand out

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has said it is committed to ensuring that the maiden edition of the Niger Delta Sports Festival become the talking point in the country.

An engineer in the Ondo State office of the commission, Sehindemi Omoyoloye, revealed that the NDDC is putting everything in place to make sure the sports festival billed to hold in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State between April 1 and 8 stands out.

“NDDC stands out for serious business and according to the notion of the MD/CEO, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, whatever is worth doing is worth doing well,” Omoyoloye said while speaking after a sensitization event by the Ondo State liaison committee ahead of the Niger Delta Sports Festival in Akure, Ondo State.

Omoyoloye also took time to urge coaches, organizing secretaries, zonal directors in the Ondo State sports council as well as representative of tertiary institutions and director of sports to pick the best athletes to represent the state at the coming sports festival.

Kayode Akinwunmi, the director of research and planning in the Ondo State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, reiterated that the sports festival is open to non-professional athletes from the nine Niger Delta states not older than 25 years.

He added that the sports festival will also serve as an avenue for national coaches to scout to discover new talents for the country.
